New York Times columnist David Brooks joins us tomorrow to discuss his latest book, The Social Animal: The Hidden Sources of Love, Character, and Achievement in our next installment of the Alma and Joseph Gildenhorn Book Series.
In The Social Animal, which debuted at #1 on The New York Times bestseller list, Brooks writes about the importance of history, culture, and philosophy; about how the power of deep ideas changes the way we think.
In a recent Newsweek article, Brooks is openly derisive about the culture of Washington, saying, “This is the most emotionally avoidant city in America,” and perceives the city as being obsessed with superficialities. Brooks dives into these deep issues to take a serious look at moral and spiritual creativity, a place few journalists have gone before.
