Fellowships

The Program on Philanthropy and Social Innovation (PSI) in Washington, DC offers the William Randolph Hearst Endowed Fellowship to one student three times annually. The fellowship, which is based on academic excellence and need, is open to both undergraduate and graduate students of color. Through this fellowship, PSI seeks to introduce a diverse group of students to issues and challenges affecting philanthropy, social enterprise, nonprofit organizations, and other actors in the social sector.

The American Express Leadership Academy 2.0 at the Aspen Institute: Fellowship for Emerging Social Purpose Leaders develops the next generation of nonprofit leaders and social innovators. This values-based leadership development program strengthens the capacity of fifteen accomplished social purpose leaders annually. Using the Aspen Institute method of text-based dialogue, the Fellowship offers participants a neutral forum in which to reflect on timeless human values, pursue common ground and cultivate a richer understanding of the human condition. They then apply these insights to their work as social purpose leaders.
