Political Satirist Christopher Buckley to speak at Aspen Institute Speaker Series Program
Christopher Buckley, “the quintessential political novelist of his time” according to Fortune magazine, is the winner of the distinguished ninth annual Thurber Prize for American Humor, Tom Wolfe has described him as “one of the funniest writers in the English language.” At age 24, Mr. Buckley became managing editor of Esquire magazine and at age 29, he became chief speechwriter to the Vice President of the United States, George H.W. Bush. Since 1989 he has been founder and editor-in-chief of Forbes Life magazine.
He is the author of twelve books including The White House Mess (Penguin), Wet Work (Knopf), Thank You For Smoking (Random House), God Is My Broker (Random House), Little Green Men (HarperCollins), No Way To Treat a First Lady (Random House) and Florence of Arabia (Random House). Mr. Buckley has contributed over 60 comic essays to The New Yorker magazine.
