Discussion on “Protecting our Cyberspace: Security Challenges in the 21st Century Information Age” with Nancy Sumption
We hear it almost daily: data break-ins of government information systems; an American or international corporation hacked by an unknown person or government; or corporate trade secrets stolen by persons thousand of miles away. It is the new reality in the Information Age, and it puts us all at risk — individuals, corporations, and governments alike.
Nancy Sumption has over 25 years of experience in developing and implementing policies to protect information at the CIA, Department of Defense, Department of Justice, National Reconnaissance Office, National Geospatial Intelligence Agency and the Air Force.
Today, Nancy is the Vice President for Information Governance, Data Protection Policy, and Privacy at Options Clearing Corporation, where she develops policies and identifies technologies to protect OCC’s information. OCC is the world’s largest equity derivatives clearing organization and central point for all US stock exchange-listed options trades-a critical node in America’s financial cyber infrastructure.
Ms. Sumption was a key participant in the 2018 and 2017 Yale University Cyber Leadership Forum and moderator of “Our Healthcare Industry under Attack” for the Georgetown Cyber Security Law Institute in 2017. She is a graduate of Temple University School of Law (J.D.) and George Washington University School of Law (LL.M).
