A Conversation with Newark Mayor Cory A. Booker
The inaugural installment of the Aspen Leadership Series: Conversations with Great Leaders in Memory of Preston Robert Tisch featured a lively dialogue between City of Newark Mayor Cory A. Booker and Time Magazine Managing Editor Richard Stengel. The discussion took place in New York City’s Museum of Modern Art, and Laurie Tisch, who initiated the partnership with the Aspen Institute, gave opening remarks on behalf of her family. Afterwards, Mayor Booker discussed his thoughts on leadership and civic engagement. The mayor described how his background drew him to public service, what his current priorities are for the City of Newark, and finally what he believes are the most pressing issues facing American cities today. The event was followed by a small dinner honoring Mayor Booker at The Modern.
The discussion, and ongoing series, would not have been possible without the generous support of Steve, Laurie, Jonathan, and Lizzie Tisch.
