The 2019 convening will explore on the topic of borders and the importance of values-based leadership
Aspen, CO, July 24, 2019 — The Aspen Institute is pleased to announce the 2019 Resnick Aspen Action Forum. Nearly 500 participants, including Aspen Global Leadership Network Fellows, other entrepreneurial leaders from Aspen Institute programs, partners, and over 100 youth under 18, will gather in Aspen, Colorado from July 24 through July 27, 2019. The theme of this year’s Action Forum is “Borders: Within and Around Us” and will focus on how leaders navigate real and perceived borders and boundaries in all aspects of their lives.
The Action Forum gives some of the world’s most innovative, value-driven leaders – most from business but many from government and civil society organizations – opportunities to learn from one another and to expand their impact by embracing diversity, sharing, and collaboration. The dialogues and workshops taking place over these four days are designed to inspire meaningful actions that will address critical social challenges in the more than 30 countries represented.
“This is our most diverse and international gathering of Aspen Global Leadership Network Fellows to date,” said David Langstaff, interim executive vice president for the leadership division at the Aspen Institute. “In a time when borders are having a moment of reckoning, I cannot think of a more important concept for leaders explore.”
Each leader attending the Action Forum is asked to make an Action Pledge, a public commitment to address a pressing societal challenge. Since 2013, over 1,200 Action Pledges have been made.
Resnick Aspen Action Forum speakers include: Dan Porterfield, President & CEO, The Aspen Institute; Anousheh Ansari, the first female private space explorer and CEO of XPRIZE; Jane Sun, CEO of Ctrip.com, David Rubenstein, Co-Founder and Co-Executive Chairman of the Carlyle Group, and more.
