SOF Symposium: Entitlements: Impact, Reforms, and the National Budget
A series of spiraling issues have threatened both the US national debt ceiling and our broader economic stability. While action has been taken to shore up short-term needs, major questions remain: How will legislators address our burgeoning entitlement programs? What can – and should – be done to address Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid? The sessions will address the history and scope of U.S. entitlement programs, the short- and long-term issues surrounding the debt ceiling, underlying patters, prospects for the near future, and global economic implications. Featuring preparatory readings, lecture, Q&A, and moderated discussion, the symposium will delve deeply into the key economic and policy issues facing us all. Moderated by Eugene Steuerle, Richard B.
