The ninth in a weekly series reimagining society post COVID-19. Our first eight meetings have moved from the social to the personal, from reimagining the social contract to reimagining ourselves, from the global to the local. In all of these conversations, we have addressed the institutional and cultural dynamics of the social contract in its various forms. What happens when the social contract is deemed to be so compromised that non-violent and even violent disobedience arises? What are the foundations and limits of civil disobedience? What are the limits of state power? What are the limits of citizens’ liberties?
