Pursuit of Happiness Hour – Civil Dialogue
The tenth in a weekly series reimagining society post COVID-19. Our first nine meetings have moved from the social to the personal, from reimagining the social contract to reimagining ourselves, from the global to the local. In all of these conversations, we have addressed the institutional and cultural dynamics of the social contract in its various forms. What are the possibilities and limitations of civil dialogue in a period of intense unrest? When does dialogue in pursuit of common understanding become tolerance of the intolerable? What are the tensions among “voice”, deliberation, and change? Is there a future for civil dialogue in this election year?
