Meditation
Whatever we think (or don’t) about God, there is something profound in the attitude of prayer. This poetic prayer, or prayerful poem, by Dominique Aguessy offers words of unsentimental affirmation. Affirmation: touched by God’s light, our words and gestures express God’s breath—reminders of the brushstrokes that bring color to the grayness of the everyday. Unsentimental: our broken selfishness breaks the mind’s silence in pieces—we are not whole. God’s light and breath are completed by God’s patience. To read this poem is to be touched by patience, retrieved from our broken selves to be re-grounded in wholeness. It is not our doing. It is the prayer.
