Meditation
“If only” is a sentiment I experience often. “If only” we were shielded from pain, from heartbreak, from disappointment, from failure. “If only” we were capable of the stoicism of stones. “If only” we were protected by a safe anchor.
And yet, unprotected and unshielded, we must find our way through this world and in its troubles and beauty. “We are expanse, a sign, on endless horizons fire and smoke.” To replace the sentiment “if only” and instead embrace all opportunities around us is an act of courage. It puts us at risk for all that might bring us despair, and yet we have the capacity to experience so much joy. How might you step out of your safe harbor today to become rivers without course? How can you become the sound of bells?
