Maria Oah serves as Community Coordinator for Weave: the Social Fabric Project at The Aspen Institute. As a child of immigrants, Maria grew up experiencing both welcoming communities that celebrated diversity, as well as ones that often excluded outsiders. This grew a deep desire to take part in cultivating communities where all may feel seen, known, and supported. She has engaged in interfaith settings, storytelling projects, nursing homes and events to connect neighbors, all part of her life-long journey to dig deeper into how to truly “love thy neighbor.” In 2019, she joined Weave to learn from and support the experts in community building. Maria received her bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from the University of Minnesota and co-founded Educowtion in Karamoja, Uganda. She currently lives in St. Paul, MN.
