2022 Literary Prize Awards Ceremony
Join us for the the fifth annual awards ceremony! Presented by Aspen Words, a program of the Aspen Institute, the fifth annual Awards Ceremony program will include a conversation with the finalist authors moderated by Mary Louise Kelly, co-host of NPR’s “All Things Considered” at The Morgan Library in New York City on Thursday, April 21, 2022.
Ceremony from 6:30-7:45 p.m. ET
Celebratory reception & winner toast immediately following until 8:30 p.m. ET.
General admission & livestream access are FREE
with donations of any amount helping to defray event costs & support our mission
Gifts greater than $250.00 will be granted VIP access to the event

The five shortlisted titles are novels, one of them a debut (The Final Revival of Opal and Nev), that address a broad range of important contemporary social issues, including the global migrant crisis, the trauma of natural disasters and racism in America. The finalists— Hala Alyan, Myriam J.A. Chancy, Omar El Akkad, Kirstin Valdez Quade and Dawnie Walton were selected by the four-member jury Angie Cruz, Danielle Evans, Ann Friedman and Kiese Laymon.
Mary Louise Kelly, co-host of All Things Considered, NPR’s award-winning afternoon newsmagazine, will moderate a panel of the finalists during the Ceremony.
