Aspen, CO, July 27, 2022 – The Aspen Institute is pleased to announce the 2022 Resnick Aspen Action Forum – a global gathering bringing together over 450 participants, including Aspen Global Leadership Network Fellows, partners, and youth returns in person for its 10th anniversary from July 27 through July 30, 2022. The theme of this year’s Action Forum is “Emergence: Into the Future of Our Making.” With the massive disruption and uncertainty of the last two years, we are striving to emerge into the changed world that awaits us, full of both systemic failures and promise. This critical inflection point will drive thought-provoking and purposeful conversations around how we make sense of this moment, reflect on what we’ve learned, and come together with urgency as global leaders to seize fleeting opportunities to create the future of our making.  

The Action Forum provides an inspiring and purposeful space for some of the world’s most innovative, values-driven leaders to learn from one another and to expand their impact by hearing diverse perspectives and experiences, gaining new mindsets to meet today and tomorrow’s greatest challenges, and collaborating on bold and inclusive solutions. This event is the signature gathering of the Aspen Global Leadership Network and is made possible through a long term commitment of support by Lynda and Stewart Resnick. 

The four-day program – a mixture of public, live streamed programming, classic Aspen text-based dialogues, skill and mindset development to inform leadership approaches, topical dialogues to deepen understanding of key issues and opportunities to collaborate – is designed to lay the groundwork for addressing critical social, economic, and moral leadership challenges as we emerge to build what comes next.

“After two years of gathering virtually, we are delighted to convene a diverse group of Aspen Global Leadership Network Fellows in Aspen for the 10th anniversary of the Resnick Aspen Action Forum,” said Tommy Loper, Vice President of Leadership Programs at the Aspen Institute. “As we make sense of both the threats and opportunities that a changed world offers, Fellows are imagining and being intentional about what comes next. They are building the collective muscle to navigate through an uncertain future with authentic dialogue, purpose, and conviction.”

This year, the Resnick Aspen Action Forum plenary discussions include time to reflect on the last two years and how our values show up to guide us, conversations around how we can use this inflection point as an opportunity to create more equitable outcomes, an exploration of a new context for gender justice and women’s rights around the world, explorations of emerging approaches to address our biggest challenges, and an opportunity to consider how our collective leadership and actions can shape the future. The 2022 John P. McNulty Prize, which celebrates breakthrough leaders who have turned their talents and resources towards dismantling our toughest problems, will be awarded at a live ceremony in Aspen on July 27 from 5:30PM-6:30PM MDT.

The Youth Action Forum, running concurrently with the Resnick Aspen Action Forum, engages young people between 10 – 18 from across the world with multi-generational conversations that are facilitated through seminars, plenaries, and collaborative spaces.
