Broderick “Broddy” Johnson is the Aspen Digital’s Engagement Manager for the Tech Accountability Coalition, where he works at the intersection of tech equity, policy, and justice for marginalized and underrepresented communities. In this role, Broderick manages relationships with technology industry leaders, academics, and activists to ensure that the industry is held accountable for product inclusion, DEI and belonging, and employee engagement.
Prior to joining the Aspen Institute, Broderick was the Director of Technology and Innovation at the Veritas Group, a full-service communications, public relations, and production firm that collaborates with clients in various industries, ranging from start-ups to corporate brands. As Director, he was able to integrate technology and culture to create cutting-edge, multi-disciplinary event coordination and production that inspired new levels of creative collaboration.
After spending nearly, a decade working for a national civil rights legacy project dedicated to preserving and accurately teaching the history of the civil rights movement, Broderick developed a strong commitment to social justice. As Producer of the March on Washington Film Festival, he was able to creatively engage audiences around the world through storytelling, strategic communications, and brand marketing. In 2020, his team digitized the festival, allowing him to use new virtual platforms designed specifically to enhance and improve all aspects of film screenings. This unique experience provided him the opportunity of learning new technical skills in virtual content curation, production, design, audio and video licensing, global marketing, and strategy. During his tenure, he collaborated with journalists, directors, producers, civil rights activists, and entertainers whose work contributed to the festival’s narrative and his team provided a platform for their work to be shared, re-examined, and celebrated while also honoring one of our time’s most prevalent eras.
Broderick is a proud graduate of New York University’s Stern School of Business, where he earned an MBA in Leadership and Change Management and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Marketing from California State University, Fresno.
