Anee Korme serves as the inaugural Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) on the People and Culture team at the Aspen Institute.
She is a passionate diversity advocate, consultant, strategist and educator with 15 years of experience working in the diversity, equity, and inclusion space and its intersection with public higher education. Before joining Aspen, Anee served as a Director at The Raben Group, where she served clients across multiple industries as a subject matter expert on effective and impactful organizational DEI strategy. She has worked closely with organizational working groups, leaders, employees, and board members to provide customized assessments, training, facilitation, team and leadership coaching, policy development and integration and long-term DEI strategic plans.
Prior to her work at Raben, Anee served as an agent for change at multiple institutions across the education sector including Towson University; Southern Illinois University; University of Maryland College Park; the David C. Driskell Center for African American Art and Culture; the State Superintendent of Education in Washington, DC; and the National Council for Community and Education Partnerships. Throughout her career, she has developed and implemented hundreds of DEI related workshops and served as both adjunct faculty and curriculum writer at various higher education institutions.
In 2017, Anee was named one of Prince George’s County’s “40 Under Forty” for her work as a DEI leader. The proud first-generation Ethiopian American and Maryland native received her Bachelor of Business Administration from Temple University, her Master of Arts in Higher Education Leadership and Policy from the University of Maryland College Park, and her Master of Business Administration from the University of Baltimore.
