Washington, D.C., September 26, 2023 — Aspen Digital, a policy program of the Aspen Institute, announces top government leaders from the National Security Council (NSC), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) as part of the lineup for the 2023 Aspen Cyber Summit. Corporate executives from PwC, Splunk, and more will also take the stage on Wednesday, November 15 at the 92nd Street Y in New York City, along with civil society representatives from Birds Aren’t Real and craig newmark philanthropies, among other organizations.

One year after ChatGPT nearly broke the internet (we’re kidding – or are we?), speakers will discuss issues ranging from the national and economic implications of the explosion of generative artificial intelligence tools to the cybersecurity challenges of our dependence on space-based systems, to the simmering debate over the alleged bird-drone conspiracy (as detailed by 60 Minutes).

Attendees of the 8th annual Summit will hear from NSC Deputy National Security Advisor for Cyber and Emerging Technology, Anne Neuberger; NIST Director Laurie Locascio; Krebs Stamos Group Partner Chris Krebs; Recorded Future President Stu Solomon; and Splunk CEO Gary Steele.

The day will also include a special conversation between Birds Aren’t Real Public Information Officer Peter McIndoe and Aspen Digital Senior Advisor Nicole Tisdale about mis- and disinformation, conspiracy theories, and, of course, the truth about bird drones. Additional speakers include craigslist & craig newmark philanthropies founder Craig Newmark; and PwC’s Global Cybersecurity and Privacy Leader & US Cyber Risk and Regulation Leader, Sean Joyce. More speakers will be announced later this fall.

Media are invited to apply to attend the 2023 Aspen Cyber Summit in person free-of-charge. A livestream will also be made available for free to viewers around the world. Session topics and a full programming agenda will be forthcoming and available at aspencybersummit.org/agenda.

This year’s Summit is made possible by media presenting sponsor The Record by Recorded Future News; presenting sponsors Google, Insight Partners, and OneSpan; gold sponsors Paladin Capital Group, PwC, and Splunk; and silver sponsors Apple Inc. and Coalition.
