Join the AGLN community in Cali, Colombia, on November 19-22, 2024, for a transformative four-day experience on restorative justice and peacebuilding. Amid rising global tensions and conflict, this event will explore Colombia’s journey toward reconciliation after five decades of violence. Co-hosted by Aspen Institute Colombia and the Aspen Global Leadership Network, and in partnership with the McNulty Foundation, this experience offers valuable insights into peacebuilding strategies from leaders actively working toward justice and understanding.

What to expect:

  • Reflect around different pathways to build peace and justice leveraging place, history, and lived experiences as text
  • Hear from victims, perpetrators, community leaders and judges that have walked the restorative path
  • Immerse yourself in Buenaventura – a major city in Colombia which has experienced: high levels of conflict, presence of guerilla groups and drug-trafficking
  • Explore peacebuilding concepts like restoration, healing, reparations, truth and forgiveness – experienced both from the institutional and from the personal level

Learn from leaders of the Colombian peace process:

  • Father Francisco de Roux – President of Colombia’s Truth Commission
  • Roberto Vidal –  Head of the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP)
  • Manuel Ramiro Muñoz – Director of the Intercultural Studies Institute at Universidad Javeriana and founder of Grupo Calima
  • Ana Maria Mondragon – Aspen Colombia Fellow and Judge at Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP)
  • Frank Pearl – Aspen Colombia Fellow and Chief Negotiator at La Habana
  • Tanja Nijmeijer – Former FARC member and negotiator
