Lisa Jones is the Aspen Institute’s Deputy General Counsel, responsible for managing the Institute’s legal affairs, mitigating legal risk and advising on a wide array of legal issues for the Institute’s programs and administrative departments. Prior to joining the Institute, Lisa was an associate at the law firm of DLA Piper US LLP for over a decade. She was an attorney in the Federal Affairs and Legislative Practice Group, where she focused her practice on federal law, regulation and policy as well as political law and government ethics. She regularly represented clients before Congress and the Executive Branch on a variety of issues. Lisa began her legal career in 2002 as an associate at the DC law firm of Verner Liipfert Bernhard McPherson & Hand (which was then acquired by DLA Piper).
Lisa graduated magna cum laude from American University Washington College of Law (2002), where she was the Senior Special Events Editor of the American University Law Review. She graduated from Duke University (1997) with a dual B.A. in History and Political Science. A native Washingtonian, Lisa is an alumnae of The National Cathedral School. Lisa is admitted to the Bar in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
Lisa joined the Institute as Assistant General Counsel in 2014.
