On May 17, 2011 The Aspen Institute Initiative on Financial Security (Aspen IFS) hosted The Fiscal Future of the United States, an off-the-record roundtable with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Jacob J. Lew. The broad-ranging conversation, moderated by David Leonhardt, Pulitzer prize-winning journalist from The New York Times, paid particular attention to the prospects for short-term budgetary and fiscal reform as part of any bargain to raise the debt ceiling, while also exploring the Obama Administration’s longer-term deficit reduction efforts and the potential for bipartisan comprehensive spending and revenue reform in the coming years.
The Fiscal Future of the United States convened essential thought leaders on budgetary issues, including policy practitioners, business leaders, policymakers, and prominent journalists.
