Upcoming Advocacy Evaluation Breakfast on Oct. 4th, 8:15 – 9:45 AM
From 2001 to 2009, The California Endowment invested more than $18 million to support the advocacy capacity building efforts of community clinic associations across the state. At this breakfast, Dr. Annette Gardner, lead evaluator for this project, will present the key lessons learned. Make sure to RSVP by September 30th. We’ll have a cup of coffee with your name on it.
The SpongeBob Effect?
Researchers have shown that fast-paced TV cartoons, like our beloved SpongeBob, appear to impair children’s “executive functions.” Children who watched only nine minutes of SpongeBob performed worse on cognitive tests than those who simply drew on paper. This pattern may not hold for adults, but advocates should keep in mind that audience reception matters. Just to be safe, we’re exchanging our TV remote for a box of crayons—at least for today.
Make Your Check Payable To…
It’s that time of year again, folks: U.S. News and World Report has released its much-anticipated 2012 college rankings. As university PR departments frantically publicize their place on the list (or carefully attempt to explain a low ranking), we wonder what these numbers actually mean. Can a five-way tie really tell you anything useful about a university? We’ll leave that for you to decide – but it’s once again clear, as many advocacy groups know, that people like to know the score.
