The Right Tools
Most of our gentle readers subscribe to the AEA365 blog. (You don’t? C’mon, man!) In case you missed this AEA365 post, here’s Elizabeth Tully of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Center for Communication Programs (JHU-CCP). She endorses the Measurement, Learning & Evaluation (MLE) Project‘s Measuring Success Toolkit. We’re excited that the Bloomberg School is finalizing plans for a Public Health Advocacy Institute; at APEP, we build or borrow the right tools for that job too!
Pigging Out
We admit it: the APEP team is a little heavy on the data-hogs. We genuinely like to roll about in big muddy heaps of data. But as Liz Zadnik, a Capacity Building Specialist at the New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault, reminds us: “Don’t stifle your passion and enthusiasm for evaluation and data.” So join us in relishing the quantitative as well as the qualitative! Check out these great resources compiled by our fellow data enthusiasts at MEASURE Evaluation. They have tools for all levels of pigginess, from lists of indicators to M&E training guides to an approachable guide to statistical methods (the Stata do files that come with the guide are a delightful perk if you love Stata like we do).
Spare the Bird?
Important announcement for all breakfast lovers: we are rescheduling APEP’s December 1st breakfast event. Trying to compete with post-Thanksgiving weekend letdown is futile. Stay tuned for details on when and where (hint: not Tiffany’s) breakfast will be served up. And in related news: our illustrious So What? blog will be going “dark” for next week in honor of the holiday.
