As our nation begins to recover from the recession and sets out to tackle what was arguably the most important issue for voters in the presidential election-job creation-we must address not just the number of Americans who need to find jobs, but also the quality of the jobs we are creating. On November 14, 2012, the Aspen Institute’s Workforce Strategies Initiative hosted a discussion event addressing these issues entitled, “From Jobs to Job Quality: Ideas for Improving Low-Wage Work.” The event was the fifth installment in AspenWSI’s discussion series on low-wage work that spanned the year, which was entitled, Reinventing Low Wage Work: Ideas that Can Work for Employees, Employers, and the Economy.
