On January 29th, at the 26th Annual Policy Research Conference of the National Academy of Social Insurance (NASI), Aspen Institute Initiative on Financial Security (Aspen IFS) Executive Director and former NASI Board Chairwoman Lisa Mensah moderated the keynote address given by Jason Furman, Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers.
In his initial remarks and during the question-and-answer session, Furman spoke widely on topics related to the conference’s theme: “Strengthening the Web of Financial and Retirement Security for Today’s Working Americans.” This theme manifested itself in different ways during the course of the two-day conference – from public and private retirement plans to disability insurance to healthcare – highlighting the manifold facets of social insurance.
