We’ve partnered with the Bipartisan Policy Center to host a new Roundtable Series: “Conversations on Civility: Making our Democracy Work.” This series will serve to identify and promote ways to improve our democracy. Each of four installments aims to highlight opportunities for educators, business leaders, and policymakers to form a more active and engaged community.
The first roundtable was held April 20 at our DC headquarters. Moderated by Aspen Institute Rodel Fellowship Director Mickey Edwards, the conversation featured speakers Jack Markell, governor of Delaware; Trey Grayson, former Kentucky secretary of state; and Cokie Roberts, ABC News political commentator. Among the many topics included in the conversation were the new role of the media in shaping today’s political tone, a diminished trust of the federal government among America’s younger generation, and a new fundraising strategy for Congress.
