In the second of two conversations centered on food (check out our talk from earlier the same day on the role of low-wage food service workers in our economy), former Agriculture Secretary and current Executive Director of the Aspen Institute Congressional Program Dan Glickman moderates a discussion on “The Future of Food.”
Inspired by and marking the release of a book built around the speech delivered His Royal Highness Prince Charles in 2011 on sustainability and the food supply, this conversation featured a panel of leading thinkers on the food and ecology movement: Slow Food USA president Josh Viertel, Applegate Farms Founder and CEO Stephen McDonnell, and Robert Lawrence, MD of the Center for a Livable at Johns Hopkins University.
The conversation ranged from antibiotics use in food to the cost of reforming the way we eat today and into the future. A former legislator as well as Agriculture Secretary, Glickman challenged the panel to make policy recommendations for the near-term:
