The conversation continues in the social media breakout session and has moved to key developments in data sharing. Today, the World Bank released all of its development indicators data, which Google has begun to organize for graphing and geo-mapping overlay. This allows a remarkable array of analysis, freeing data sets which used to be kept internal (or at best found in a pdf) to be graphed against each other (health aid flows against mortality rates in the Congo, for instance).
The Foundation Center has also begun to organize a lot of nonprofit and foundation data to help donors make better decisions, given better information about what funding is already flowing where. (See their Philanthropy In/Sight tool.) Lots of movement afoot based on data sharing…
