Maximizing Global Development Efforts
The Modernizing Foreign Assistance Network recently put out “From Policy to Practice,” a brief report on ways to improve the US global development strategy to maximize impact. We were thrilled to see “prioritize accountability” as one of six core recommendations. Development folks should incorporate monitoring and evaluation systems from the very beginning, tracking progress through meaningful benchmarks along the way.
A Better Year
As we begin 2012, we think it relevant to highlight a Harvard Business Review blog piece from 2010, an oldie but a goodie, on the art of better living. Umair Haque writes: “Betterness doesn’t begin with Ben Bernanke, Lloyd Blankfein, or Anderson Cooper. It begins with you.” Truer words have never been spoken. Haque urges us to devote some time for questions and reflection—good advice, for advocacy evaluation and everyday life.
