On October 12, 2012 the Aspen Institute’s Initiative on Financial Security (Aspen IFS) hosted a lunchtime dialogue entitled “Reinvigorating the American Dream: Restoring Economic Opportunity in America.” This event was part of the Aspen Institute’s Series on “Building the Economy We Want: Aspen Asks What Will it Take?”
Lisa Mensah, Executive Director of Aspen IFS moderated a dialogue that focused on challenges that low- and moderate-income Americans face to move up the economic ladder. Joining her in discussion was Stuart M. Butler, Distinguished Fellow and Director at the Heritage Foundation’s Center for Policy Innovation and Peter B. Edelman, Co-Director of the Joint Degree in Law and Public Policy, Faculty Director of the Center on Poverty, Inequality, and Public Policy, and Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center. Edelman is also the Author of “So Rich, So Poor: Why It’s So Hard To End Poverty in America.”
