In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the passage of Title IX, The National Women’s Hall of Fame (NWHF) and GOOD Maker teamed up to host the National Women’s Hall of Fame Title IX Athletic Challenge. Seventeen submitters shared their stories of how Title IX inspired and empowered them, and how they are continuing to spread awareness in their communities. Seven of the stories that were submitted were featured at last week’s Title IX and Beyond Symposium:
- Reframe the game: Shift the focus from “winning the game” to “Playing the game”
- Reducing Financial Barriers
- Title IX and the Struggles of Immigrant Female Athletes
- Engaging girls from low-income communities through team-based arts AND athletics
- Two-Generations in Sports: Mothers as Athletes
- Build the Coaching Corps Movement of Volunteers Trained in getting girls fit through team sports
- Guarantee That Sports In Schools Be For All And Not The Lucky Few
From now until June 14, the public can vote for their favorite, and the top-voted submission will win a $500 grant and a speaking engagement at the 40th Anniversary celebration on June 26 in Washington, DC.
