2024 Great Books – Session 4: What Are the Manifestations of War?

The Great Books series is now at capacity. Please contact Ari Mizrahi at ari.mizrahi@aspeninstitute.org if you would like to add your name to our waitlist.

In 1947, two educators from the University of Chicago, Robert Maynard Hutchins, president of the university, and Professor Mortimer J. Adler, established the Great Books Foundation to bring together passionate readers to meet and talk about enduring issues and ideas. Three years later, these gentlemen joined Walter Paepcke to form the Aspen Institute. Today, the Great Books program remains integrally linked to the ideals of the Aspen Institute.

This five-week program offers participants the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the most significant books in the Western intellectual tradition through a weekly moderated dialogue.

Led by moderators Paul Andersen and Jon Peacock, the 2024 series will take place in person on five consecutive Wednesdays from 6:00-8:30 pm on January 31, February 7, February 14, February 21, and February 28. All sessions will take place in person in the Koch Building on the Institute’s Aspen Meadows campus. Theme and topics will be announced in mid-December.

Fee: $295, includes all sessions, light refreshments, and readings. Scholarships are available.
