The Art of Negotiation: Can Theater Help Bridge the Divide in our Country? In collaboration with Theater MastersSaturday, February 4; 5:00-6:30 pm

The Aspen Institute is pleased to partner with Theater Masters to welcome award-winning playwright Abe Koogler (Kill Floor, Advance Man, and Blue Skies Process) in conversation with moderator and Theater Masters Co-Artistic Director Julia HansenAndrew Leynse, artistic director of the off-Broadway Primary Stages Theater in New York City; and emerging playwrights from the top MFA programs in the country.

It has become increasingly clear over the past few months that we are a divided nation and as playwrights our first lesson in writing is the art of negotiation; allowing our characters to say “yes” so that we can move the story and action forward.  Is it therefore our responsibility to try and use our skills and bring both sides to the negotiating table with our artistry?  Or are the days of political theater over?
