Aspen Institute Romania
Conference EU-NATO Shared Responsibilities in Contiguous and Frontier Areas
The conference addresses some of the most pressing concerns of NATO members and Romania as a border state – the challenges of border management in a regional and international context of globalization, increasing migration, terrorism threats, transnational organized crime and trafficking networks (all aggravated by a context of economic crisis). Both NATO and the EU have been working with priority to develop their own strategies, structures and procedures, as well as cooperation between member states. It is however as essential to avoid redundancy and loosely defined areas of responsibility as it is to devise better mechanisms of cooperation. The Aspen Institute Romania intends to bring together Romanian and foreign experts to discuss coordinated action in order to ensure individual and state security without hampering human and economic development.
This event is by invitation only.
