Aspen Ministers Forum Session XVII (June 2014)
Continuing the group’s sustained focus on international institutions and multilateralism, fifteen former foreign ministers convened at the Pocantico Center of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund in Tarrytown, New York, from June 20-22. The opening dinner, which immediately preceded the Forum, took place in New York City at the Goldman Sachs Headquarters and featured UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as the keynote speaker. On June 20, the ministers were joined by prominent international experts, including several representatives from the United Nations and high-level keynote speakers including US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power and incoming United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Prince Zeid of Jordan. The closed-door roundtable discussions centered on global climate change, the situations in Iraq, Syria, and Ukraine, the challenges and opportunities inherent in global interconnectivity, and the efficacy of multilateral institutions.
