Dr. Gail Wilensky, Senior Fellow of Project Hope, directed the Medicare and Medicaid programs as the Administrator of the Health Care Financing Administration with an annual budget of $200 billion and a staff of 4,200. She has also chaired numerous national advisory boards and commissions focused on health care issues. At Project Hope, she develops and analyzes policies relating to health care and the economy, serves as an advisor to government and the private sector, and writes and speaks about policies and politics of health care reform.
Dr. Wilensky will discuss a broad range of issues regarding the U.S. health care system including the Affordable Care Act, infectious diseases, the emergence of high cost specialty drugs, the rising cost of health care, and the unavailability of quality medical care in many parts of rural America.
