The Future of Affirmative Action: In the Courts and the Classroom

Less than ten years after upholding affirmative action in higher education, the Supreme Court is once again considering—in the case of Fisher v. University of Texas—whether university admissions policies that take race into account violate the Constitution. Does affirmative action work as a way to achieve educational parity, or does it in fact harm the educations and careers of many minority students? In the next panel of the “Intersections” series, Stuart Taylor, Jr., author of Mismatch, and Peter Edelman, author of So Rich, So Poor, will join Justice & Society Program Director Meryl Chertoff for a thought-provoking roundtable on the impact and future of affirmative action in higher education and beyond.By invitation only.

Does affirmative action work as a way to achieve educational parity, or does it in fact harm the educations and careers of many minority students?
