Hit Makers: The Science of Popularity in Age of Distraction featuring Derek Thompson
Derek Thompson, a Senior Editor of The Atlantic, is one of the brightest new voices in American journalism, writing on economics, politics, media and money – and always with an expert sense of what’s important. He is also the author of Hit Makers: The Science of Popularity in an Age of Distraction, where he investigates how blockbuster success isn’t a matter of chance, but a fascinating interaction of power, network, science, art, and sheer brilliance – making some ideas disappear, while others explode.
Thompson, who wowed the audience at the Washington Ideas Forum last September, is a regular contributor to “Here and Now,” the national afternoon news show on NPR, and appears frequently on MSNBC, BBC and CBS. He was recognized as among “30 Under 30” by Forbes and Inc magazines, and by Time magazine as one of the 140 Best Twitter Feeds. His book – Hit Makers – will be available for signing after his dialogue with the Aspen Wye Fellows.
