NEW VIEWS Documentaries & Dialogue: “An American Ascent”

In collaboration with the Aspen Action Forum

“Filled with breathtaking photography, An American Ascent chronicles the first African-American expedition to climb Denali. The film is as much a social statement as it is a climbing documentary.” –The Villager

This award-winning film chronicles nine African Americans who set out to build a legacy and become role models for inner-city kids and people of color all over America to encourage them to get outside. They did so by taking on the grueling 20,320 foot peak of the continent’s highest mountain, Denali. A discussion with climber and 2004 Henry Crown Fellow Stephen DeBerry will follow immediately after the film.

Fee: $20. Tickets on sale now at www.aspenshowtix.com.

Parking is very limited. Please carpool, walk, ride RFTA (www.rfta.com) or ride a We-Cycle bike (www.we-cycle.org).
