The Future of Tech is Now – Cloud Computing in a Post-Pandemic World

Held in partnership with AWS Institute, this 3-hour Socrates Seminar will take place online:

September 21, 2021  8:00 P.M.-11:00 P.M. EST
September 22, 2021 8:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. PHT

If you are interested in attending this seminar, please email socrates@aspeninstitute.org

Cloud computing is the future and the global digital migration to the cloud has been accelerated by moves to remote work caused by the ongoing pandemic. Both private companies, like Uber, Grab, and Go Jek, and public entities, like Singapore’s government, all use cloud technology. What does this transition mean for how companies, governments, and individuals operate in the world, manage their data, and protect their privacy? This seminar explores the logistical, practical, and ethical effects of this movement. How can the cloud aid in the effort to contact trace and contain the COVID-19 pandemic? What are the ethical implications of cloud migration on society- and what are the different practical effects this could have on our day to day lives?

Join the Aspen Socrates Program and Amazon Web Services Institute to explore this topic with the expert moderation of Stephen Balkam, founder and CEO of the Family Online Safety Institute.
