One World in Tech: Reimagining the Digital Future
In this Socrates seminar, we’ll consider life in todays’ current tech-mediated society and try to envision the future as a unified global landscape. Imagine a connected and collaborative world where technological advancements are shared, leveraged, and utilized to address global challenges, improve the human condition, and foster mutual understanding among diverse cultures. Can the currently prevailing dystopian narratives give way to a world in which technology is a unifying force, transcending traditional barriers and contributing to a more interconnected, prosperous, and harmonious global society? We will consider how the power of emerging AI tools can be harnessed for the betterment of all humankind, regardless of differences in geography, culture, or socioeconomic status while addressing the growing concerns about artificial intelligence, digital media, and privacy and surveillance. Join us for a stimulating dialogue exploring the possibilities and pitfalls of technology as we race towards humanity’s digital future.
Moderator: William Powers is a technologist, New York Times-bestselling author and current Visiting Scholar for Humanistic Technologies at the Max Planck Center for Humans and Machines in Berlin.
