Washington, DC & Aspen, CO, June 14, 2023 — Organizers today announced that Douglas Emhoff, Second Gentleman of the United States, will appear at the Aspen Ideas Festival to discuss rising incidents of antisemitism in the U.S. and around the world. The Aspen Institute’s signature summer festival takes place in Colorado from June 24-30 in partnership with NBCUniversal News Group, with more than 300 speakers and thousands of attendees set to participate.
Mr. Emhoff, who has frequently spoken out on antisemitism as the first Jewish spouse of a President or Vice President, will appear on Tuesday, June 27 in a panel discussion moderated by journalist Katie Couric, alongside Eric Ward, Executive Vice President of the racial justice nonprofit Race Forward, and White House Homeland Security Advisor Dr. Liz Sherwood Randall. Panelists will discuss the first ever U.S. National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism, which was released by the White House in May and developed by a task force that was co-led by Homeland Security Advisor Sherwood-Randall.
Now in its 19th year, the Aspen Ideas Festival brings together leaders and innovators in policymaking, business, the arts, science, education, and more to engage in deep discussion alongside members of the public and hundreds of invited fellows. A complete list of speakers confirmed to date is available here. Passes to attend are available, while members of the media are invited to request credentials here.
