The 2020 convening will be held virtually and will explore the topics of “the fierce urgency of now” and “uncomfortable leadership.”
Washington, DC, August 22, 2020 — The Aspen Institute is pleased to announce the 2020 Resnick Aspen Action Forum – a global gathering bringing together over 500 participants, including Aspen Global Leadership Network Fellows, partners, and over 100 youth under 18. For the first time, the Action Forum will gather virtually from August 22 through August 28, 2020. The theme of this year’s Action Forum is “The Fierce Urgency of Now: Uncomfortable Leadership” and will focus on how leaders navigate compounding crises across the globe with the future in mind.
The Action Forum gives some of the world’s most innovative, value-driven leaders – most from business but many from government and civil society organizations – opportunities to learn from one another and to expand their impact by embracing diversity, sharing, and collaboration. The seven-day program is designed to inspire meaningful actions that will address critical social, business, and scientific challenges in the midst of the worldwide novel coronavirus pandemic.
“This is our most diverse and international gathering of Aspen Global Leadership Network Fellows to date,” said David Langstaff, executive vice president for the leadership division at the Aspen Institute. “The ongoing pandemic has put everyone in a state of uncomfortable leadership as we all move to lead in new ways. It’s about addressing that uncomfortable leadership and meeting the moment with fierce urgency that drives AGLN Fellows forward.”
This year, the Resnick Aspen Action Forum plenary discussions include open dialogues on Calling for a Moral Revolution, Justice Delayed is Justice Denied, and A Love Letter to the Next Generation.
Resnick Aspen Action Forum speakers include: Dan Porterfield, President & CEO, The Aspen Institute; Madeleine Albright, the 64th secretary of state of the United States; Anousheh Ansari, the first female private space explorer and CEO of XPRIZE; Ken Ofori-Atta, Ghana’s Minister for Finance and Economic Planning; Jacqueline Novogratz, Founder & CEO, Acumen, and author of Manifesto for a Moral Revolution: Practices to Build a Better World; Jianyu Zhang, Managing Director, Environmental Defense Fund; Lisa Fitzpatrick, Founder, Grapevine Health, and more.
