announce the line-up of acclaimed documentaries for the
2021 Eisner/Lauder New Views Documentaries & Dialogue Series:
MY NAME IS PAULI MURRAY, RITA MORENO: JUST A GIRL WHO DECIDED TO GO FOR IT, and LFG.
This year’s series of films tell the stories of trailblazers fighting for representation and gender equity. The stories and life’s work of Pauli Murray, Rita Moreno and the members of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team come together in this series to illustrate the past, present and future of the fight for gender equity in every aspect of American society—from education to law, the arts to business, and sports to the pervasive gender wage gap. These films raise up the voices and stories of landmark litigation, breaking down barriers, triumphant success and the persistence and courage that move us towards a more just and equitable society. The series will be held virtually and will include post-screening conversations with the filmmakers.

MY NAME IS PAULI MURRAY
Fifteen years before Rosa Parks refused to surrender her bus seat, a full decade before the U.S. Supreme Court overturned separate-but-equal legislation, Pauli Murray was already knee-deep fighting for social justice. A pioneering attorney, activist, priest and dedicated memoirist, Murray shaped landmark litigation—and consciousness—around race and gender equity. As an African American youth raised in the segregated South—who was also wrestling with broader notions of gender identity—Pauli understood, intrinsically, what it was to exist beyond previously accepted categories and cultural norms. Both Pauli’s personal path and tireless advocacy foreshadowed some of the most politically consequential issues of our time. Directed by Betsy West and Julie Cohen the Oscar-nominated team behind RBG, and told largely in Pauli’s own words, MY NAME IS PAULI MURRAY is a candid recounting of that unique and extraordinary journey. Directors Julie Cohen and Betsy West and Producer Talleah Bridges McMahon will be featured in a post screening panel.

RITA MORENO: JUST A GIRL WHO DECIDED TO GO FOR IT
Over a 70+ year career, Rita Moreno defied both her humble upbringing and relentless racism to become a celebrated and beloved actor, one of the rare EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) Award Winners of our time. RITA MORENO: JUST A GIRL WHO DECIDED TO GO FOR IT illuminates the humor and the grace of Moreno, as well as lesser-known struggles faced on her path to stardom, including pernicious Hollywood sexism and abuse, a toxic relationship with Marlon Brando, and serious depression a year before she emerged an Oscar winner. Moreno’s talent and resilience triumphed over adversity, as she broke barriers, fought for representation and forged the path for new generations of artists. Director Mariem Pérez Riera and Co-Producer Ilia Vélez will be featured in a post screening panel.

Directed by Academy Award-winners Andrea Nix Fine and Sean Fine of Change Content, LFG (Let’s F*cking Go) is a no-holds-barred, inside account of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team’s ongoing fight for equal pay as told by Megan Rapinoe, Jessica McDonald, Becky Sauerbrunn, Kelley O’Hara, Sam Mewis and others. Three months before the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the players filed a class-action, gender discrimination lawsuit against the U.S. Soccer Federation, which sets the stage for LFG. The film interweaves transcendent athletic performances, with the players’ ongoing pursuit for equal pay and grants viewers unprecedented access to these game-changers as they meet the physical demands and pressures of being some of the world’s top athletes, while showcasing their courage, unflinching spirit and resiliency in an effort to create long-lasting social change with the biggest fight for women’s rights since Title IX. HBO Max will release the film on June 24, 2021. The film is produced by the Fines and Abby Greensfelder, with Howard T. Owens and Ben Silverman serving as executive producers. The film is an Everywoman Studios and Change Content production, in association with Propagate Content in collaboration with CNN Films and HBO Max. Directors Andrea Nix Fine and Sean Fine will be featured in a post screening panel.

Each film will be available for viewing starting at 3pm MT/5pm ET/2pm PT on the corresponding Friday listed above. Viewers will have 24 hours to unlock & start watching the film. Once they begin watching, they will have 24 hours to complete viewing before the watch window ends. All watch windows will close by Sunday at 3pm MT/5pm ET/2pm PT and viewing will not be extended beyond that time.
