On Friday June 28, 2019, during the Aspen Ideas Festival, AHSI Executive Director Michael Conathan hosted a Facebook Live conversation with Janis Searles Jones, CEO of the Ocean Conservancy and Daniela Fernandez, CEO of the Sustainable Ocean Alliance.
Launching from the question of why it’s so important to talk about our global ocean from a location 8,000 feet above sea level and 1,000 miles from the nearest coastline, the trio discussed a sweeping range of issues from the ocean’s role in combatting climate change to the need to broaden engagement on the topic to include more diverse voices and equitable consideration of action.
