Ross Wiener

Ross Wiener is a Vice President at the Aspen Institute and Executive Director of the Education & Society Program. In his role, Ross designs and facilitates professional learning and applied leadership development for senior staff in Congress and the Executive Branch, state commissioners, leading superintendents, advocates, scholars, and philanthropy leaders. Ross is a nationally recognized expert in education policy, politics, and practice. He has testified before Congress and state legislative bodies on many occasions and frequently advises policymakers and system leaders in off-the-record forums. Ross regularly authors original thought leadership, which has been published in The Washington Post, The Atlantic, USA Today, and CNN.com, among others. From 2002 to 2009, Ross was policy director and then vice president for program and policy at The Education Trust, a field-leading advocacy organization focused on advancing equity in public education. Early in his career, Ross served as a trial attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Educational Opportunities Section and clerked on the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Ross serves on the board of the NEA Foundation and is a founding board member of Teaching Lab and the Danielson Group.
