Anthony A. Rionda is the Director of Government Relations and Advocacy at Florida International University (“FIU”) where he works to support the university’s agenda at the local, state and federal level. In his role he helped develop innovative advocacy strategies and campaigns, advocacy communications initiatives, and innovative academic and student initiatives. FIU is a member of the State University System of Florida with over 54,000 students. FIU is a Carnegie R1-Highest Research Activity University located in Miami, Florida, that is ranked in the top 100 public universities by U.S. News & World Report. In 2015 he was appointed a Fellow of the FIU Honors College where he teaches two courses on government and leadership. He is actively engaged in the South Florida community, and serves as a member of the Miami-Dade County Historic Preservation Board. Rionda is a Miami native and a graduate of holds Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, and a Masters of Public Administration Degree from the Green School of International and Public Affairs, and has completed doctoral coursework at Johns Hopkins University.
