Araceli Martinez Ortega (Los Angeles, California) is a reporter for La Opinion currently assigned to cover City Hall, Government and Community. Between 2006 – 2013, Araceli Martínez Ortega was Sacramento Capitol’s Correspondent for La Opinion. Araceli has a college degree in Communication Sciences from UNAM, the most prestigious university in Latino America. She started her journalism career in Sonora, Mexico as an agriculture reporter. She emigrated from Mexico to Northern California in 2001 leaving behind a 12 year-career in print and radio. Before working with La Opinion, she worked for Univision San Francisco and Radio Bilingüe, the most important public radio in the USA. She is very proud for the opportunity to cover the Latino political growing power and its everyday connection to the community.
