Asia Johnson-Brimmage graduated from AYLF in 2020 as part of the second St. Louis cohort. Asia is a first-generation college student at Fontbonne University and is working toward a degree in Studio Art. An aspiring portrait artist, Asia specializes in work that highlights the lives and achievements of people of color whose stories are not well represented in the world of art. Her work has been displayed in galleries and shows across the city of St. Louis, including the Saint Louis Art Museum, History Museum, and the Urb Arts Environmental celebration. Asia is an active member of various groups on campus including Black Student Union, Griffins Achieving Progress, and the 1G Collective, and takes every opportunity possible to have her voice heard and advocate for social justice. Asia’s past community work includes involvement with the InspireSTL program and the Young Griot Society.
