Carlos Diaz Barriga (Washington, DC) will receive his Masters in International Media at American University (AU) and is a graduate fellow at AU's Center for Latin American & Latino Studies.

Carlos Diaz Barriga (Washington, DC) will receive his Masters in International Media at American University (AU) and is a graduate fellow at AU’s Center for Latin American & Latino Studies. During his time at AU, he has been a teaching assistant for a course on race, gender, and sexuality in the media, and has collaborated on a multimedia project with NBCWashington.com that dealt with the issue of free speech and safe spaces on college campuses. He is currently wrapping up his capstone project on LGBTQ representation in Mexican media, focusing on the community’s representation in telenovelas. Previous to AU, he worked for over three years in strategic communications at Burson-Marsteller. He has worked and studied in Mexico, the United States, and Canada. Carlos received his B.A. in Marketing from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM) in Monterrey, Mexico.
