Carlos Murguia has led a career covering industrial engineering, entrepreneurship, and venture capital. He has a bachelor’s in Industrial Engineer from the Instituto Tecnologico Superior de Mexico. While pursuing his bachelor’s degree, Murguia joined the business world, taking over his family business at the age of 20, after the death of his father. He managed a pest control company where he served as CEO. The company, Global Fumigaciones, became one of the largest and most prestigious pest control companies in Michoacan, Mexico, under Murguia’s direction. After receiving an M.S. in Industrial Engineering from New Mexico State University, Murguia started as an Economic Development Officer at NMSU’s Arrowhead Center. Murguia has held different positions; in 2019 he was named the Associate Fund Manager for the Arrowhead Innovation Fund, where he focuses on seed and early-stage investments to commercialize promising technologies developed and/or licensed by New Mexico start-up companies. In the same year, In 2020, Murguia became Director of the Foster Innovation Exchange of NMSU’s Arrowhead Center. Leading FIX, Murguia has established partnerships with different organizations to support entrepreneurship and provide prototyping services to entrepreneurs in the Paso del Norte Region. Carlos is also the Program Manager of Arrowhead’s Sprints Accelerator programs. Murguia was recognized by HBCUvc as one of the “31 Under 31” to watch in the world of venture capitalists. Carlos is a powerful force in the workplace and uses his positive attitude and tireless energy to encourage others to work hard and succeed. Murguia received the New Mexico State University Alumni Association Fall 2017 Outstanding Graduate Award for the Graduate School – Master’s degree, the highest award the NMSU Alumni Association bestows upon a graduating student. Carlos is a Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and a Certified SCRUM Master by the Lean Six Sigma Institute. In his free time, Carlos likes to run, watch and play soccer, and enjoy time with his nieces. Selected to participate in the 2021 Executive Leadership Program.
